Hypnotherapy for Anxiety

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is something that many people experience and can sometimes lead to panic attacks. Anxiety is a condition of persistent and uncontrollable nervousness, stress and worry.

It's widespread for people to feel anxious in specific situations, such as social gatherings, events, or travel to new places. A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense fear that can build up to sheer terror. This fear is usually accompanied by physical symptoms, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or a rapid heartbeat.

The symptoms people experience during panic attacks are a natural part of the body's fight-or-flight reaction. This reaction provides a surge of energy to help us either fight an attacker or run away. When you're experiencing a panic attack, your body prepares for a fight-or-flight response. This reaction causes your body to tense up and produces the classic symptoms of a panic attack: a fast heartbeat, shortness of breath, and butterflies in the stomach. You may also feel an overwhelming sense of dread or terror.

Anxiety and Panic Attacks can indeed be debilitating, and they can prevent someone from doing things they want to do. Anxiety and Panic Attacks can even limit someone's life in terms of what they are able to do. It's essential to get help for these conditions if they are impacting your life in.

Can Hypnosis Treat My Anxiety?

Much research suggests hypnosis can help people with anxiety disorders. A study by the University of Plymouth looked at the effects of hypnotherapy on generalised anxiety disorder. They found that people who received hypnotherapy showed a significant decrease in their anxiety symptoms.

There are several treatments for anxiety, including therapy and medication. If you're looking for immediate relief, you can also do some things on your own to calm yourself down. Deep breathing, visualisation and progressive muscle relaxation are all methods that can help you manage your anxiety in the moment. There are also many nutritional supplements that can have positive effects. However, for long-lasting effects, hypnotherapy can provide effective treatment

Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and concentration that allows us to work with your subconscious mind. This state of focus can help us to change the way you think and feel about things that trigger your anxiety. This can help clients come to grip with their anxiety and work through their triggers. This therefore supports our clients in spotting causes of anxiety and thus developing ways to combat it.

What to Expect from a Hypnosis Session

If you are seeking hypnosis treatment for anxiety, there are a few things you should know about what to expect during a session. First and foremost, it is important to understand that hypnosis is not a “cure-all” for every person who suffers from anxiety. However, many people have found relief from their symptoms through hypnosis treatment.

When you arrive for your hypnotherapy appointment, you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire about your medical history and current symptoms. This information will help the hypnotist tailor the session to your specific needs. It is important for us to acquire a comprehensive understanding of our client and how anxiety effects their life. Therefore, we encourage our clients to be as honest and open as possible.

Next, you will be asked to relax in a comfortable chair or recline on a couch. Our therapist will then begin the process of relaxation and guided imagery, which is designed to help you focus your attention inward and reach a state of deeper relaxation.

Once you are in a state of deep relaxation, the therapist will begin to work with you on identifying and addressing the root causes of your anxiety. This may include exploring past traumas or negative experiences that may be contributing to your current symptoms. The therapist will also help you develop healthy coping mechanisms and positive self-talk to use when you are feeling anxious.

By the end of the session, you should feel more relaxed and have a better understanding of how to manage your anxiety.

How Long will a Session Last?

A session tends to last for approximately one hour, and we recommend that you allow yourself some time to relax after the session is over. Many people find that they have a better understanding of their anxiety after just one session, but it is important to work with our therapist on a regular basis in order to see the best results.

Most people find that they need multiple sessions in order to see lasting results. This enables both our client and therapist to truly understand triggers of anxiety and develop solutions together. As we undertake a holistic approach, we believe that it is important to understand not just the symptoms but also the person as a whole to ensure that our treatment is effective.

Expected Results of Hypnosis for Anxiety

After completing multiple sessions with us, we expect our clients to start seeing results in dealing with anxiety.

Some clients report feeling increased self-confidence and a positive outlook on life, as triggers for anxiety are identified and dealt with before taking effect. Furthermore, clients are able to enhance their ability to relax, particularly in stressful situations. Moreover, this leads to improved sleep quality, which only reduces anxiety further as tiredness is less of an issue to be dealt with. Ultimately, these factors all lead to clients having more control over their anxiety symptoms or intrusive thoughts and worrying.

There is no 'cure all' solution for anxiety, however we believe that hypnotherapy is very effective at dealing with anxiety. Our experience and the research available both support this belief. If you have any questions on our services and how we approach anxiety, feel free to get in touch. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and put your mind at ease.
